Jonathan Harris

Jonathan is a director of Harris Freidman and is a specialist commercial lawyer with over 40 years’ experience. His caring and empathetic approach means he has retained clients over many years, some for decades.

Jonathan is a trusted advisor to numerous families, business entrepreneurs and start-ups. He also helps families to plan and document the transfer of family assets and the passing of control of family entities to the next generation while at all times protecting the assets and taking into account related taxation issues.

Jonathan has well-known expertise in helping families with a vulnerable or disabled family member, allowing them to plan ahead. He regularly speaks on estate planning to disability groups, including Cerebral Palsy Australia, Down Syndrome Australia, Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia) and local councils. He is Chair of Woodbury School.

Jonathan is a valued advisor to the dental profession, having particular expertise to cater for its members’ specialised legal requirements in the management of both their practices and personal arrangements.

When asked why he decided to become a lawyer Jonathan said, “I hated blood so that ruled out medicine, but I enjoy meeting and being trusted by clients on a day-to-day basis.”

In his spare time, Jonathan is happily married to Robyn and has four kids (including his labradoodle, Chilli). He gave up trying to catch a big fish but enjoys pilates and surf skiing (not in the surf!).
