Jonathan Harris

Jonathan Harris is a founding Director of Harris Freidman and an Accredited Specialist in Business Law, with over 40 years’ experience in commercial transactions, business law and estate planning. He is highly regarded for his thoughtful, commercial, empathetic approach and has built enduring client relationships, many of which span decades.

Jonathan is a trusted strategic advisor to families, company directors, entrepreneurs, and start-ups, providing guidance across a broad range of commercial and personal matters. He has extensive expertise in succession planning, assisting families to structure and document the transfer of assets and control of family entities to the next generation, while carefully addressing asset protection and taxation considerations.

He is widely recognised for his work with families who have a vulnerable or disabled family member, helping them plan effectively for the future. This work is informed by both his professional expertise and personal experience as the father of three sons, including his youngest, Finley, who has ASD.

Jonathan regularly presents on estate planning to disability organisations, including Cerebral Palsy Australia, Down Syndrome Australia, Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia), and various local councils. He also served as a director of Aspect for 14 years, from 1996, and is currently Chair of Woodbury School.

In addition, Jonathan has special expertise and knowledge of the dental profession and has advised both buyers and sellers of dental practices.

Reflecting on his career choice, Jonathan realised that while medicine was not for him, he values the opportunity to build meaningful relationships of trust with clients on a daily basis.

Outside of his professional life, Jonathan is married to Robyn and has 4 children (including Chilli, their labradoodle). He enjoys Pilates, food and movies (not in that order).
